tagan makes good units - just use a like unit

check the 12v amps make sure you match it
check the total power make sure it is close

i suggest you use a good 500w like antec - to avoid any issues

----- forget the above----------------- this is way too small of psu------------------
you parts list is a heavy load on the 420w psu that is why you proably burned it up - the 7900 sli set needs 600-700w

i am surprised it worked and did not crash after 20-30mins - tagen makes good units

there is no reason to replace it, it will power all of your componants. if you start having problems with it then i would replace it with a brand such as corsair or pc power and cooling. but for the time being, use it and see how it goes

stick with 420w psu when the gpus use 400+ watts under full load?

its 2 x7900GTX

each is 200-250w max

disregard my first post -- it thought it broke.
using a 420w psu with 7900gtx is bad move, there is good chance the psu will take computers with it when the load spikes it is way under rated

ya that is great cooler at a great price - they where $200 then ocz bought them and they lowered the price by half

hopefully the quality is the same - those will work as well as some 1000w psu

its a great choice for a bottom mount psu
for a top mount with little cooling you may want a side ways 120mm -140mm fan

but again that is great psu - we use those 2!

Might be worth looking into a more modern single card at the same time.

I agree that a better psu should be used, but your power numbers are quite high.
The 7900 GTX was tested by X-bit and uses less than 85 watts of power when stressed
