Multiple cards

I'm using an Intel D975XBX2 motherboard. My video card is a Quadro FX 1500, required for the video editing and compositing work I do. It is not generally well-suited for gaming, however, especially lately. To that end, what I'm wondering is if I could install an extra card, like a GeForce 8800 GT, say, in one of my spare PCIe x 16 slots and somehow switch between the too cards depending on which I want to use. I'm not trying for a Crossfire or SLI setup, just a way to have and use multiple cards individually. How would I do this? Would I enable/disable them in the Device Manager and just switch the monitor cable or what?

Any input or suggestions would be very welcome.

you can give that a try, it might require a some reboots though, which might annoy you. I dont think there is a need to physically remove the card if you just disable the driver.
