the e4700 you linked doesnt come with a heatsink/fan

pentium dual core e2200 seems like the best buy

if your motherboard allows, you can OC the e2200 a bit as ell

Yes it would, but you need to make sure you can run a C2D based CPU on your 945 chipset. Some can, and the fact that your looking to get a low end one is good. 965 is the start of compatibility, so your 945 might not.

You might want to consider getting a new motherboard. You should be able to get a new P35 for less then $100, and re-use his 630. That way the next time you get some $$$, all you have to do is drop in the shiny new CPU.

ahh good idea, never thought about getting the motherboard first. The intel board (Intel D945GCL) supports most of the C2D up til the 45nm. But if I get a good motherboard now, then when I do get more money I got get one of the new 45nm e7200 or such and drop in there. TYVM

Would there be any cheap intel mobos that allow overclocking? Maybe something like that and say a dual core celeron might be an answer here. While not as fast as a c2d, it would probably blow away that old p4 if overclocked.
