hey guys.....
i have a thermal take 420W PSU.its 6months old and has been runing well with my current setup of:

amd x2 5600@2.8Ghz
xfx 9600GT overclocked
2GB ram (2x1GB)
1 320GB HDD
2 DVD drive
one lan card

now, i m dieing to upgrade my 9600 to 4850 which has a psu requirement of 450W. i dont no the amp requirement though. will my PSU hold up??....coz i always had a feeling that the rating that they show is for crappy PSU and high end CPU+MOBO+ lots of perifirals
i no this is a very dum question but i still needed to ask.....:S
thnx

12V requirement depends on how loaded the system is. Also, PSU efficiency drops as the PSU ages, so does yours really have 25A? You are borderline at best for my liking, but if that system has one HDD and one Optical drive, and you aren't OC'ing, you should be fine with that PSU. I sure won't guarantee it though. You may want to consider a new PSU into the budget just in case you have stability issues after the upgrade.

TR2 420w W0061/W0062 ~25A
4850 should have 30amps (absolute minimum)
