Hi everyone, I had a previous thread regarding this, my first build, in which I received some great advice. I have taken it all on board and arrived at the following system. I am still unsure which psu to choose but I have included a list of the ones I am considering and would really appreciate some advice. I want it to be quiet, stable and solid quality. Regarding my choice of case, I have gone with the Lian-Li because I love the look and hear great things about the brand but is has a door which I know is a feature not loved by most. I won't be overclocking or gaming heavily so I hope I can keep the door closed and cool sufficiently. Thanks again for all your help.

All i can say is that out of that list the corsair stands out, not only pefrormace wise (stability, low heat etc) its also whisper quiet.
I've been using corsairs for quite a long time (used over 8 corsairs on different builds ) and Never ever had a problem.
The enermax is also getting good reviews but never tried one myself

Asus P5Q-E Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX

My last choice is between

Asus ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5

Get the 4870 in my opinion, faster memory, i have it and its excellent, only gets loud when it purges hot air from the card, whihc lasts for like 2 secfonds, i dont really notice it anymore. But its a great card.

thanks RetroDude, I think I will take your advice. Is there a big difference between getting the 512MB model or the 1GB?

If you plan on doing any sort of gaming get the 4870. It will pay off in the long run. Otherwise you may be doing a bit overkill on your vidoe card if you do not plan on gaming even with the 4850. As time goes on though games will favor the 4870 vs the 4850. Might want to get the 4870 1gb if you can afford it. Might also want to look into nvidia's gtx 260 which have come a long ways down on price.

PSU wise I will say the antec power supplies have been top noche for me. Plus they are 85%> effeicent which can save you a few bucks on your electric bill. I think though that any of your psu's will work great with the current rig setup except maybe someone can help me on this one but do these powersupplies have enough amps/watts to push the graphics cards he's looking into?

I also wanted to know is the CPU cooler & Arctic Silver a necessity even though I don't plan on overclocking?

the zalman psu are supposed to be ridiculously silent.

Also, 4870 seems like a better futureproofing option.

Finally, I'd advise getting a dvd drive instead of blueray because you won't be able to watch bluerays at full 1080p on a 22inch screen anyway. That or get a 24inch like the G2400WD (for 350$CAD or so).

thanks for the advice, I was questioning the merit of the bluray so you might have convinced me to drop it antiacid.
