Hello,

I have a configuration that does not boot at all. As per the documentation I have it should be supported, but probably I'm wrong.
Here the configuration:

Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Deluxe
CPU: E8500
DIMMs: 2 x Kingston (512 MB DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM)
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 (256 MB) PCI-E

I use standard PSU up to 400 Watts ATX that came with my Chieftec case.

After putting the configuration together, the system would power up but without video and POST.
I have cleared the NVRAM, but without success.

Thanks in advance for any help!

that cpu is supported by that mb.

if you are sure that the video card and ram work, you might try popping in another cpu and see if that boots. if everything boots with another cpu, you'll know it's a faulty cpu.

if it still won't boot with another cpu, then it's most likely the motherboard.

Thanks for your reply! No DDR2-533 are supported by this motherboard officially. Can this be the cause for this behaviour? As far as I am aware it might not perform at its best, but it should at least boot.

From board spec on Asus site: "The motherboard supports DDR2 memory that features data transfer rates of 1200/1066/800/667"

With your cpus fsb of 333 youre trying to run 533 memory @667 and it simply refuses to work at that speed

Thank you for your replies! Now I understand my mistake! I will try it with new memory today and hope there is no other issue.

I decided to return the board and pay some 30$ more and got the DDR3 model - P5Q3 Deluxe. With the right memory it works fine now :)

Thanks again!
