Just recently bought a PowerColor HD4870 X2. Currently I've got a 19" 1280x1024 Samsung P30BF, which is a superb screen, however doesn't quite cut it size-wise, and I need to switch to widescreen 16:10 or 16:9 as 4:3 isn't very good for gaming I find.

I've also got a 40" 1920x1080 Samsung TV downstairs to test the new card with also. Obviously I'm aware that a card like this only comes into its own at high resolutions, but I am wondering if it would be more sensible to go for a 1440 or 1680 resolution screen to give a good FPS/resolution balance -- or should I risk a 1920x1200 or above monitor on the assumption I might have to scale down the resolution in future when games push the card more?

1600*1200 is the sweet spot for that card

I would think nothing less than a 24 inch monitor for such a powerful card to come into its own.

1600 ? really?

I'd think 1920 by 1200

So, presumably if in the near future games push the card too much, I could Xfire it I guess. Are there any good 1080p monitors that will downscale without pixelation in the meantime (if say I had to run 720p on a 1080p screen)?
