Problem with SATA hard drive... please help!!

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place! I'm a bit stuck...

I recently had to remove my A8n SLI Deluxe motherboard to replace the chipset fan. Now that I have put everything back together, I get a message reading "no valide device!" (complete with spelling error). I then get the "insert system disk" message. My SATA hard drive is not appearing on the list of startup drives in BIOS.

When I press ctrl+s to view the raid setup I can see that the physical hard drive is listed, but bios doesn't seem to recognise/boot to my hard drive.

Does this mean I need to plug something else into the motherboard, or do I need to reset some bios settings? I'm kind of new to this sort of thing, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know!!

Thanks in advance,
Paul

  1. I feel... really stupid now. Turns out I had my hard drive plugged into one of the SATA raid ports. Swapped them over and it all seems to work again!

Sorry if I wasted anyone's time!
