My wireless internet connection drops every couples minutes and ive tried everything I know to fix it and so far nothings worked. It is connected to a netgear router and there are a couple other computers connected to the router that are not experiencing any problems so ive ruled out that possibility. My pci card is also netgear and im running vista X86. when my connection drops the netgear smart wizard still shows a green light with great signal strength so i know to signal is not the issue. it is only the windows network manager that shows the dropped connection. I've tried updating drivers, disabling all other firewalls, un and reinstalling drivers, changing the network settings, running various virus and spyware programs, resetting the router and modem (even though i don't think that is the problem). So any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is possible that signal is still an issue no matter what the software tells you, make sure you limit the number of walls and metal between you and the router. Also, see if there is a troubleshooting page on the router's manufactures website

As a Bestbuy employee I will have to say that you should always store your routers in a high place like a 6 feet cabinet.
Storing this router at high place give the router a better signal coverage to your network card. Yes, I have done so myself and got better signal coverage.

Also make sure that the IP address for your computer is working with the router itself, you can always check and approve network cards IP address but enter the IP address for your router in your internet browser. ( if you know it) If not, You will have to call the model maker of the router so they can provide the IP address to the link to your router or router's manufactures website

Sample :Open a Web page window, type in the address bar (000.000.0.0), carriage return, there wireless router login interface. User Name is usually: admin Password: admin. If not, look at the instructions.

Hope I help
