Discussion groups problems caused by windows updates

Hi there. I'm running Windows XP Professional on a X64 machine. Downloading the latest Windows updates and Service Pack 3, has resulted in a favorite online game, My Word (by MindJolt) no longer providing scores. Can anyone suggest a remedy please?

Check internet security settings, re-install java, flash, shockwave ?
