Missing task bar

Hi My task has gone missing but the rest of the desktop is ok, I have tried opening in save mode but it is the same ie desktop ok but no task bar and as I haven't got the start/all programs I can't even get onto the internet to download programs that might help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried pointing your mouse down to the lowest point on screen ?
If taskbar appears, your settings are on Auto-Hide, uncheck that.
Push mouse past lowest point & left and keep it there, if scrolling down and taskbar visible now but extending offscreen. You have resolution set to extended monitor where it creates a screen bigger than the actual one. Reduce resolution to max. your monitor can handle. If windows damaged try : SFC /SCANNOW (have install CD ready).

Thanks for your reply, I have tried that but it would appear that there is more problems besides the task bar not showing, so I will try the SFC/SCANNOW
and see if that does the trick. I am grateful for your suggestion and will let you know if it is successful.
