you can get 4gbs of ram for more like 50$ and seagate has a 640gb hard drive that newegg was selling for 79.99$( the 7200.10). also you need to add a couple of fans in that case. its a good case, just needs some added fans.

I might as well get the Cooler Master Elite 335 case for $10 less and get a fan or two. The 500GB I listed is the retail version at the Frys store.

UPDATE:

I want to save a few dollars..

Cooler Master 335 $50
ASUS 770 board $81
4GB 800MHZ Kingston $68
HIS IceQ 4850 1GB $210

I should be set for 1440-1680 res, huh?

I can't see the build in the link because I don't have an account. Can you list?

Besides the graphics card (can't find HIS IceQ 1GB 4850 in Los Angeles), I want to buy parts from a local Frys Electronics store. I would pay about the same price as Newegg and I don't pay shipping and I also get my stuff right away. If I get a "DOA" I can use like $1.50 worth of gas to return the product at the store that is like 10 minutes or so away in city driving conditions.

If you're getting a phenom it's best to get a board with the SB750. Since you want to save money I say go with this recent addtion by ASRock

ASRock AOD790GX $109.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157141

You can also go with this Corsair kit of DDR2 800 that can be overclocked and likely reach 1066 with the right settings

CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 $69.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184

Of just go with some good stable DDR2 800 RAM like this excellent mushkin

mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 $58.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146692

As for the Hard drive that seems expensive so I guess you're getting the retail verson, or you're not getting it from new egg.

Take a look at this WD 640GB for $74.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136298

Or this 500GB for $64.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136149

My new budget is $1000-1100 w/ 19" monitor. Also, I have NO overclocking experience.

I was considering

Cooler Master 335 $50
ASUS 770 board $81
AMD 5400 $77
4GB 800MHZ Kingston $68
HIS IceQ 4850 1GB $210

Ya, basically knock the case down to Antec 300, with an Antec EA650W
Then get a Sapphire 4850
And throw in the change to a Q6600.
With your 19" that comes right in there.
Grab that cooler and we'll help you OC ;) The Q6600 will hit very respectable and safe OCs very easily.

you could get an E8400/8500 core 2 duo, which will game better than the q6600. but if you really want/need to get the quad core, for the price the q6600 is your best bet.

I think I will look at the E8400.

I am kinda sold on an AMD platform because I think it will take like 2 mos to save up for everything and I want to buy a couple parts at a time. the 790GX motherboards have the best integrated graphics and even though that isn't much I can still play games at low-medium settings with a ~$800 complete system without a graphics card and I might shave another $200 because I think I will stick with my 1280x1024 monitor until I get a graphics card.

Thanks everybody.

I just got a pc in similar price range
e8400
ASUS EAH4850 TOP
mushkin 4gb 996587
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P (this board seems absolutely ridic. at the price and leagues above the competition, unless you can get a p5q similarly, this was really cheap on newegg tho)
Got a 22" monitor for 250... total of this was 800$, with shipping, with 100$ in rebates, so 700$, leaves you 300$ for a psu and HDD, easily doable.

Order today and newegg has free shipping better hurry!

But $650 gets me a WHOLE TOWER with 790GX. I can get ~$700 faster than I can get $800. I can wait another month for $400 to get A 19" monitor and a 4850. I would prefer to get started with PC gaming ASAP.

Mix of Frys and Newegg purchases:
650w Antec $100
Antec 300 plus case fan ~$70 or Cooler Master Elite 335 plus case fan ~$60
ASRock 790GX $110
2x 2GB DDR2 800 Kingston $67
AMD 5400 $77
WD 500GB retail box $100
Retail Lite-On DVD burner $25
Windows 64 $100

Total $649 +tax

I can get a $80 ASUS 770 board = -$30
That makes an $80 9600GT a $50 upgrade over the Integrated graphics solution. So now I have a medium powered rig for $700 +tax out of my pocket for a gaming machine and I still have money left to pay for gas in my car and bills. In December I will get my 19" monitor and 1GB HIS IceQ 4850.

well since you are that tight on money, your last build there would be fine. you could cut down to 2gbs of ram to save some money (if you are using a 32bit os) and it wont kill your performance. i would get the coolermaster case(just cause its cheaper, normally im an antec fan), and i would stick with the cheaper dual core proccesor cause when the new processors from AMD come out you can upgrade to one of them. also here's a graphics card thats cheaper and will still game half-way decent:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102805
im not positive but that card might out perform the 9600gt.

also, for 120-130 dollers you can get a 9800gt:http: //www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=40000048%201067942536&Description=9800gt&name=GeForce%209800%20GT
i would suggest the Evga Hybrid power cause it has free shipping.
