Weird CPU temps

So awhile back this happened to me:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/page-256881_10_0.html#t1894565

I never really monitored my temps before that. Now that it has happened I started to monitor my temperatures. Ive used a zillion different temperature monitoring programs but I finnaly settled on PC wizard 08. Here is a picture of the current temps.

Correct me if im wrong but aren't those temps impossible. Thats around 65 degrees F and its 69 in my living room (where the pc is located).

I looked up the 4 pins and 3 out of 4 are for data one said something about temperature. Is it possible that the pin being broke is what causes this?

Thanks for the input!

  1. not necessarily, what exactly is your cpu? the 65nm x2s have issues with temp read outs, i know one of mines shows something similar (~19c idle when room temp is 23c)
  2. It is a pretty well known fact that the temp diodes are not accurate at lower end of their abilities. There is an excellent article here on Toms by CompuTronix that will shed some light on the subject. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/221745-29-core-quad-temperature-guide
  3. actually...with the brisbanes, it was that the temp diodes were just not accurate at any point of their abilities
  4. In addition to what tripper688 said it's been fairly well documented that different temperature monitoring utilities produce different results. That confuses the issue even further.
