Will this OCZ 600w StealthXstream with 4x18amp rails be enough for an 4870 x2 chip? I have a q9450 quad core, 8gb ram, 4x SATA HDDs running in Antec 900 case.
Thats cutting it pretty darn close. I have a PCP&C 610 watt silencer with a Q9450 oc'd to 3.2ghz, 4870x2, 4gb ram, 2 x SATA HDDs and I'm running fine. With your load, I'd just jump up to a corsair 750 watt or something comparable just to be safe. Its a better investment now than to worry about damaging your components later on.
The 4870x2 consumes 421 watts at full load and 177 at idle and your cpu is at 215 under load and 165 idle without being OCed....so...those number arent looking so good
hmmm so is it really that close then? This OCZ one is suppossed to be good, I heard that it could have easily been labelled 700w. I thought the amperage was a bigger deal?
It has 4x18amp rails, so it could have two dedicated 18a rails for the card (36amps combined).
