New computer with
9600 GSO
Q6600
4 GB Ram (DDR2 800)
Asus P5Q SE/R
I will also have a DVD burner and initially 2 HDs.

Any suggestions on what size/kind of powersupply I should get for this? As you can probably guess from the slightly dated components, keep the price low, no $150+ supplies.

I think you can pick up an Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU for around $50 on Newegg these days.

tey112,

Here is a link to an easy to use psu power calculator:

I think you will be surprised to learn that you need less power than you think. You will be fine with a high quality 500 watt psu that will cost you a lot less than $150.00.

I build pc's for friends, neighbors, and relatives. I use Corsair psu's exclusively. They are rock solid and very stable. I've never had any problems with them.

Right now the Corsair VX550 is availble at buy.com for $64.24 and shipping is free:

To be honest it's probably more than you need. On the other hand it is only $4.00 more than the VX450.
