Hi Guys
I am using Windows 7
I have two physical hard drives
One is C the other is F
I want to rename F to D
But I cannot because...
I have a DVD drive that shows up as a CD drive D and a DVD drive E
I have tried under My Computer "Manage" to rename the CD drive but it does not show up.
(it show sup as DVD drive E
It shows up in My Computer as D and E

What can I do

Is there a registry option or
Should I uninstall the DVD drive and reinstall it (hopefully as just a DVD drive !)

Hi sminlal

That sounded a great idea.
I did what you said.
The E drive DVD has now disappeared in My Computer
But the D drive CD rom is still there in My Computer !

So when I got into "Manage" the D option is not there in the drop down list !

I only have one physical optical drive.

So do you think there is something in the bios or motherboard I need to change so that windows 7 will not recognise this D drive CD Rom.

Kind Regards

I've never seen anything quite like this so I'm a little bit at a loss as to what to suggest. You could certainly poke around in the BIOS configuration to see if there's anything that looks likely...

Unless someone else has any suggestions?
