PCI-Express Question

Hey Guys,

Been away for awhile and Now it's time for an upgrade. Got a question here about PCI-Expess. I am running an Asus A8n Deluxe and I am wondering about this new PCI-Express 2.0? if I buy a newer card will it work in my current slot? Will there be any performance drop?

I am looking into an HD4870.... Currently running an BFG 7600GT OC'd up

It's fully backwards compatible both ways - old cards work in the new slots, and new cards work in the old slots (at reduced interface speed, which doesn't make much difference in the current cards).

did a quick edit, 6600GT was the old card... i forgot i did a minor upgrade to the 7600GT about 2 years back.
