I need to figure out where my memory is at or how to understand the numbers. under task manger it says i have

total 4096
cached 2551
free 0???

I have a 4830 installed w/ 512mb

but it says total memeory is 2.3gb??


total avai. graphic memory 2303mb
dedicated video memory 512mb
system video memory 0mb
shared video memory 1791mb

I can see the shared video memory is where my other mem is going...but from what i read...people say thats not what it means...so..can anybody help me figure it out?

sorry..my specs are as follows

q6600, 500gb hd, 4gb ddr2 800, hd4830 w/ 512mb, vista home permeium 64

this thing is slow almost all the time and I have narrowed it down to the ram i believe.
