Start button does not light

when I press the start button it sounds like an engine sputtering and the light does not come on until about 7 tries.

I'm assuming you mean the button to power on your system and not the "Start" button on Windows desktop.

The sputtering sound is either your fan, hard drive or CD/DVD drive about to die.

Hi yes, it is the power button, what can I do to correct that problem. Thanks
