Basically I started out wanting a 9800 gx2 but cant seem to find em anymore.. So i turned to the gtx 260.. Lost all hope basically I dont even kno if i should go nvidia anymore consider al the ++ ive heard about ati.. But the gtx 260 seems good. Some input about the card would be good and lastly i got about 300-400$ on a video card maybe a bit more.. Im avoiding the gtx 280 it pushes me wallet to much.. But If anyone suggests other cards then go for it. Games ill be playing.. : Crysis, world in conflict, CC3, Stalker, Fear, Gears, Company of Heros, Cod 4/5

nothing wrong with ATI cards. they really turned the corner with their 4000 series. I would either get the gtx260 216 or a ATI 4870. both are great cards and are pretty equal.

I just researched this whole topic for you and just went through the same questions. Check out my thread.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/257408-33-beats-half-price

It just came in the mail and I am so happy with it. The XFX GTX 260 Core 216 Black Edition at 666core and 1150mem beats the stock GTX 280s for half the price. I will soon see how fast this card overclocks. Huge improvement. Im happy. This is the best one on the market beating every company except for the water cooled ones, but of course.

thanx guys this helps alot i would much rather stay nvidia. I do plan in running sli not 3x sli but just 2. Im going with older style setup which isnt really that old. But like A core 2 quad 9550, Nforce 750i ftw, and then the two 260 gtx's now.. I figure if i must id much rather stay with a bit older setup until they work out all the kinks and stuff in the Intel i7 platform and x58 mobo's.. Plus everytihng is just to expensive so 2 gtx 260 core 216's is good and then if i do choose an x58 setup with tri sli then ill give it a shot then. But im pretty sure ill destroy any game in my path with two of these beasts

Just got my evga GTX 260 216 yesterday for 240 bucks. (they went back up to 280) but n e way, save yourself the money and dont buy a "superclocked" or any factory OC'ed one. Mine is running crysis: warhead amazingly. i used the precision tool it came with and i OC'd to the XFX speeds with 0 problems. idles at 39C loaded at 59C @ 50% Fan. 666/1410/1151 is my clocks. Very impressive card. Running 1440x900 all enthusiast settings no motion blur with 16xAA. i get about 20 - 40 FPS. pretty damn good for a single card. i have a feeling you ca OC the chit outta this card.

for the post above me i just got the gtx 260 216 oc and i can even overclock it more than the factory , you should get more Fps on crysis ( on 1280 res. i have 8X ultra high settings mostly and motion blur with around 25 Fps and am using a 8800 gt superclocked)
