What display for a GTX 260+?

I recently purchased the XFX GTX 260 Black Edition and I'm wondering what size display to get. I would love to make it a HD setup with a 24" 1920x1200 monitor (like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009125) but I'm not sure if it will be too big, and would make the longevity of my PC smaller due to decreased performance. I would probably be happy on a 22" monitor but the 24"s look so nice :)

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

To clarify, I know my graphics card will have a lot of gaming headroom on my 1440x900 19" monitor, and I'm wondering if I could safely go up in size without worrying about poor performance in the near future.

Three more questions before I answer:

What kind of processor / motherboard do you have?

What kind of games do you like to play? Ex - World of Warcraft, the Sims 2, the latest first person shooter, Starcraft, all of the above, etc.

What kind of settings do you like to play your games at? In other words, is performance or aesthetics more important?

I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor and an ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 motherboard.

I like to play all kinds of games, but modern FPS are why I got the graphics card and are why I am worrying about getting to big a screen.

Performance is my main goal, but things like draw distance etc. (which affect gameplay) I like to turn way up. It doesn't have to look super awesome, but stuff like long range clipping bothers me. Particle effects, bloom, etc. I couldn't care less about.

Further clarification: I am not looking for someone to recommend me specific monitors to buy (though I wouldn't mind that, either). I'm looking for advice on what resolution should be reasonable for my setup. I will want to be watching blu-ray movies and playing games, so I already know I want a 2ms response time and HDCP support with a HDMI port. The only thing I don't really know how to decide on is how big to go. 24" with 1920x1200, or 22" with 1680 x 1050. I have never had displays in this range of resolution, so I lack any experience with such things, and how performance scales to higher resolutions. So, even just an idea of how much my performance will drop going from my resolution to the 22", and from the 22" to the 24" would be useful. Anything like this.

Go for the 24" if you can. Guru3d has made some benches on the gtx260-216 stock on both 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 playing the most recent games maxed out (except for most filters), and they got around 30 fps's on crysis, and around 40+ on farcry 2 so you shouldn't worry too much, you'll do fine. The difference in performance you would notice if you got a 22" instead of a 24" would be around 5-7 fps's, but since it's 30 fps or above you will do fine on a 24". And if you OC your 260 you will get a nice boost so don't worry, go for the big one.
