MLC vs. SLC....Whats the difference? And does the price difference justify choosing mlc?

SLC devices store 1 bit per flash cell, MLC devices store 2 bits per cell. The reason MLC drives are cheaper is because a chip half the size (and cost) can store the same amount of data.

SLC devices can write more quickly and they can sustain a greater number of writes before their cells wear out.

For most consumer applications, MLC devices are more than adequate.
