is water cooling realy that much btr than air...building a new rig and thinking about water cooling ,any advice

Get ready to spend $300 for a decent loop. It is more for a hobey than for actual performance. With a good air cooler you will get maybe 10-15c warmer than a watercooler.

plan on tinkering with over clocking , in your opinion is water cooling worth it

If your spending a lot of money on your system, then yes...Water cooling is worth it.

You can still overclock very far on air though.

What are your system specs?

my specs on air cooling are:

asus p5q pro turbo/q6600 @ 3.4 ghz 24/7/asus silent knight II/
8 gb ocz sli edition/wd green 1 tb/seagate barracuda 250 gb/
antec 300/ gtx 280 @ 690 mhz/1572mhz/1300mhz,
apevia iceberg 680 watts/lite on dvd r/lite on cd r.

on idle i get 30-35 for each core.
at load i get 58-61 for each core.
