Im havin this weird problem. I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64 bit and when i try install the catalyst drivers for my hd 3850 the ati install manager comes up, and i click install and it astks where to intall ect. and then it sais installation done. Only problem is thats it, nothin happens nor is anything installed in the ATI Technologies folder thats created in Program Files. Ive tried ati's latest drivers and visionteks driver package and both do the same thing. It seems like the install manager only installs another copy of the install manager and thats it.

Clean start required here i feel. You can either use a driver cleaner App, Driver cleaner Pro is a good tool to use. Or you could do it manually like i do.
Get the Catalyst uninstall APP from ATI web site, or it may already be in your ATI folder under programs on your main drive usually C/ . Also download latest drivers, Put these somewhere safe desktop or My documents will do. Run Uninstall tool. Go to Add/Remove and uninstall all other ATI entries that may be there. Then go to your C/drive and uninstall /delete all ATI folders. Reboot the computer and install the new drivers, adjust screen/res settings and that should be it.

Before your Reboot to install drivers go to Control Panel>User Accounts uncheck the box that says "enable user account control" then reboot and follow directions above.

Already tried starting from scrath, same results. All that installs is the setup files for the Catalyst Setup Manager, the Visual C+++ stuff and a 10 day WoW trial. The bad thing is it does this for the driver package from ATI, Vistiontek and the CD. this sucks hard
