I have built a system that was running fine, I was even able to overclock it with good temperature. I thought the system was very stable, however when I had a USB HD plugged in and then added a Firewire Device and all of a sudden my whole system shut down. I can not restart my system. I have unplugged all the USB devices and just o run the system bare and it is not starting. It looks like I am getting power to the power, it is when I try to turn on the system, the fan turns on for a second and nothing happens. I tried to disassemble everything and tried to work backward to figure out what is wrong, but I am having the the same problem.
Any suggestion on what is going on? Do I have a bad MOBO or a power supply? Why did it stop when I plugged the firewire? Anyways, I'm a total noob into building a system, I thought I had figured everything out and I hit this wall.
8GB 4x2GB Mushkin DDR2 800 (XP2-6400)
Antec Signature 650W Power supply.
Antec 900 Case
Do you have a header for case speaker, or does that board display error codes by LED?
I have a hard time believing that an Antec Signature would suddenly die.
I would at least try taking most of the memory out, just running with 2GB. If you tried that (and tried at least two different pairs) then I guess you have to assume the MB blew out somehow... maybe a bad solder on the firewire header?
Did you clear the CMOS with the button on the back?
You'll find the speaker header within the F_PANEL, as described on page 31 of your manual. When connected to a small internal case speaker, your motherboard will emits "beep codes" described towards the end of your manual.
