I just built a new computer and want to move most of the non system files from the old Vista HD to the new HD running windows 7. I tried to use the easy transfer wizard but that didn't work, apparently you need some type of crossover cable or something. Anyway, they're both Western Digital HDs. They have a program to clone the HD but that's not what I want to do. I just want to move all my movie, music, etc... files. I know you can't transfer programs, that's fine. Can I just hook up the old HD in the new computer and drag and drop the old files after I boot from the Windows 7 HD?

Yep, you can do that. Just install the HDD's (obviously don't boot from them), boot up from your new drive and you'll have access to all of your files.

Thanks, for some reason I thought it was going to be way more complicated than that. I guess because most of the questions and tutorials are for cloning HDs.
