select proper boot device and restart

HELP! when i start my comp.... its displaying "select proper boot device and restart"if i restart then it boots properly.........

Had something like this when one of my HDs was on its way out.

Do you have a spare HD you can install an OS to see if this works?

Try turning on S.M.A.R.T if you have it

Sounds to me like you don't have your BIOS configured properly. Please list your configuration when asking for help.
