What does need more volume on disc mean

Hello,Im burning a dvd video and its saying "need more volume on disc", does that mean hard drive?

How much free space does your hard drive have? (go into my computer, right click your hard drive, and select properties) Also, what program are you using to burn disks?

Well im at work right now and cant check the space, but i did look at it early this morning at it looked like it was almost full, so i deleted a game program to make room... im using aimersoft dvd creator.

I can't find any references to this error anywhere - but it is obviously referring either to the DVD or your hard drive. I don't think that it would let you make a project larger than a DVD, so it would make sense that you are running out of hard drive space and have no room for a buffer. I would want about 5GB of free space for a full DVD - 4.7 for the buffer and some extra for swap space.

okay so i tried cleaning out some dead files and such, have about 18g of free space, same thing "need more volume on current disc", any other ideas?

Your post may be headed in the right direction - you raise the question whether the message refers to the hard drive or not. MAYBE it is telling you that you are trying to burn too much stuff the the OPTICAL disk, and it is the "disk" that needs more volume.

maybe i should reformat the burn to a different settings ?

Have you burnt anything before, or is this the first time? If it is the first time, do you have a short video that you could try just to see if it would work where the DVD space is for sure not the problem? If you just want to download something random, Big Buck Bunny from the blender foundation is a short licensed under creative commons 3.0, which means (in part) that there is no legal problem with you burning it, so long as you don't take out the credits.

i have burned some a while back.. just started to burn again..well last night i dl xilisoft dvd creator...it burned the movie..but no sound "sigh"

That's really a bummer. What file format are you trying to burn to the DVD? Maybe I could hunt up an opensource program that would do the trick.

These are the ones that stand out in a quick perusal of the resources. Unfortunately, I don't burn DVD videos myself, so I am not as much help as I could be in choosing one. I should do it once just so I know for sure a way.

Solved one of my problems by using my other dvd burner rw..its a sony 710a..solved the burning problem.. now i have a small issue on a movie with audio and video not being syncronized..some one said the movie file could be corrupted.
