Also, I could not figure out which "LITE-ON w/Lightscribe" you were recommending. The link gave me a list of all LITE-ON CD/DVD/BLURAY Drives.

I was recommending this version:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106265

I am sorry about the link, I thought I linked the individual item and not the list. I chose this model because of the free shipping and because it comes with Nero 7. You would normally pay around $8.00 in shipping charges on a optical drive at Newegg, its better to invest that $8.00 for a higher quality drive with free shipping :)

The numbers came out a little different because you chose a 500GB hd instead of the 640GB I recommended($15 difference), probably got a diff burner(your link is broken), and you went with a after market CPU cooler.

Good luck on your build.

The ram comes out as $18.99 after the mail in rebates, $38.99 without. The voltage is a little high but that can be adjusted :)

What private message? The one you sent me calling me an ******* for calling you a moron in this thread? Well here it is:

Hey, *******................ why would you encourage somebody to retard his system right off the bat by putting a chip with a slower front side bus ? I'm pretty sure that chip will work on that board because I've done something similar to a few gigabyte boards. The point being, somebody looking to build a machine and get the best performance they can right off the bat should be encouraged to get higher end ( and faster ) components if possible. I'm sure he's more unfamiliar with hardware far more than I and doesn't realize the best ways to put things together..............I don't think you do either. Good thing I didn't tell him his 4850 isn't as good as too many people think, huh ?

Your still a moron :)

Unfortunately swifty, it is all about money, that's why they made those chips in the first place.

The low FSB used to be an argument for a good OCer without running the FSB too high, but that's far less of an issue now.

@ swifty_morgan

Glad to hear spirited debate.

I am for surely very unfamiliar with building PC's. I want to go as low and functional as possible so once I start spending big dollars I will have already become familiar with the process and won't mess up spending larger sums.

Don't know anything about OC'ing yet but once I get everything built I plan to figure that stuff out too. And if I make a small mistake, or big one, at least it will be effecting lower cost components.

Just cause I can spend high dollars for the latest, doesn't mean I will be able to utilize, or appreciate what I am buying, until I start a the bottom.

Thanks for looking out in your own "way" though.

The banter was entertaining.

Also, based on this build is buying Vista64 necessary or desired? I already have XP from the Dell I am replacing and could use that.

No, you can't use the Dell XP. It is OEM and specially burned for their machine. Not only is is illegal but it also won't load.

Try either of these, I personally prefer XP, but I think I'm in the minority.

XP Home Edition SP3 English for System Builders 1 Pack CD
Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit English 1pk for System Builders DSP OEI DVD

Also I don't see an aftermarket HS. I suggest that you get one so you can OC. Intstall it now so you don't have to tear it apart in a week when it's too hot. Here is a good one that I installed in the Antec 300, it fits and cools well.

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 with the
XIGMATEK ACK-I7751 Retention Bracket (Backplate) It is critical that you use the backplate, the push pins are junk.

If you decide to use the S1283, then be sure to cover the whole CPU with a very thin film of thermal grease, because the heat pipes don't allow for proper spreading through contact.

I forgot to mention after Slomo corrected me on a couple things. I swapped the Aftermarket Cooling I had selected for the exact same HeatSink and Brace you mentioned.

I also added the Thermal Compound stuff. I am guessing once I get into the building I will have more how to questions. But that will be a little while.

Thanks for your opinion on the OS. A different forum thread was proposing Vista64 as a going forward OS if not able to wait for Windows 7 next year.

Pretty sure this is the last thing I need to figure out.

Final Question...I forgot to mention that I will be using a 52" Samsung 1080p LCD for the monitor.

"SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0" ~ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102770

The Product Specification says HDMI via adaptor. Is it necessary to consider a "native" HDMI video card or will that take me way to far up in price? Also, I will be using the PC to stream movies and tv shows. (hulu.com, etc.)

Is the current Video Card selected going to make me regret not getting a higher end card? Any opinions?
