my samsung cd-r/rw 252s won't burn rw any more

Right click My Computer icon, properties/hardware/device manager

Or Start/control panel/administrative tools/computer management/device manager

Expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
Right click each one of them/properties/advanced and at transfer mode each should be on "DMA if available".

Look at the DVD drive above those and see if it's enabled.
