some of you should remember me, you recommended i buy a faster hdd and I did but my computer is still slow.

i remember before i gave up my other hdd for this new one i got it running real fast (not in safe mode). i cant for the life of me remember what i did to achieve that (ms word loaded up amazingly fast, i do recall)

the bios is up to date
i have no viruses or worms
i removed the hdd jumper and its running at 3gb/s
HDtune reports no bad sectors

any ideas?

What d oyou mean slow? Maybe you expect to much.

Your antivirus could be scanning everything you open and slowing you down.

Run HD tune and report what you get.

Check your temps maybe the CPU is hot and throttleing back.

1. no, i disagree. i believe i saw what my computer is capable of speed-wise. as ive said, i got it to run much faster than this with my old hdd. and this hdd is much faster (so i hear). so i cant wait to see how much faster this computer runs with this new hdd.

2. my antivirus is fine

3. temps are acceptable

4. hdtune 12.3ms access time, 85mb burst rate, 6.2% cpu usage, 80mb/s average transfer rate

Well. According to you, everything is fine, so your dumb and you expect to much.

If you are on Vista, it will speed up apps you use the most.

Obviously you know everything and dont want some help.

Goodbye, have a nice day.
