Verbatim hd dvr hard drive hangs

Hello,
I have a Verbatim Mediastation HD DVR,the issue I have been facing with this is that while playing a movie from the inbuilt hard drive(500 GB),the unit hangs,screen turns blue and at this instance , no buttons or functions work.I have to disconnect power through the rocker switch located at the back of the unit.The unit remains into hanging mode a while after this happens and does not work fine even after restarting.

If it has a boot menu, please run memtest86+ on the Verbatim HD DVR.
Maybe from a USB drive?
It may not be user repairable.
I would think either memory or power supply problem.
