My parents have recently lost the connection to a Windows 2000 server that was set up many years ago by a long-gone tech guy. I am well experienced with computers, but have never had to deal with servers (especially not old ones). Apparently, this computer my mom is using to connect to the server was the only one that had that connection.
I tried to do some trouble shooting on my own, here's what I could find: The server does not have a connection to the internet (you can't surf the web), though it is still plugged into the network. The icon in the bottom right says it is connected to the network. The computer my mom uses to connect to the server no longer has the icon to connect any more (its a 9 year old dell).
If you could give me instructions on how to set up a connection between a computer and that server, it would be much appreciated. Also any tests you can give me to figure out whats going on would be great too. They are using it as a file server only, there are many files on this server pertinent to the family business. (backed up using zip drive tape disks...lame haha).
