I was using my computer, and then for some reason I wanted to charge my iPod, so I plugged it in in the back, suddenly the mouse stops working, so I force the system to shutdown, (I know Im an idiot) and now, it wont boot back up. All the fans spin, and the lights go on, however, there is a red light on my motherboard, and on the Post code it says either 0C or 0b, or maybe 06 cause 6 and b look the same. but the screen is just black, someone help!

Anyway, have you charged your ipod like this before?
How long was it that the mouse stopped working before you shut it down?
Could have been that Windows was just hunting for and installing the driver or whatever for your Ipod. Sometimes, depending on what you have been doing, or are doing at the moment, it could take it a minute or two to "sort" out what has been plugged in and get it working.
Could have been that you bumped the mouse connection and knocked it loose, or knocked some other connection loose in the back, check them all.
Try resetting your BIOS.

how do you reset the bios??
and Ive never charged my ipod like that, because ive never charged it on my new computer, and as for the mouse it stopped working as soon as the ipod plug was all the way in, and windows was installing the driver I think, and then I shut it down anyway, Damnit, im such a fool!

Reply to DA5ID

Check all of your connections on the back first and make sure you didn't just knock something loose. Mouse, keyboard, monitor, power, all of them.

Reply to jitpublisher

Ive already done that a millin times, im getting desperate

Reply to DA5ID

Which red light is on, there should be 2 lights side by side. LED1 and LED2
LED_D1 LED_D2 Message
ON ON Normal
ON OFF Memory Error
OFF ON VGA Error
OFF OFF Abnormal: CPU / Chipset error.

Reply to jitpublisher

it has led3 on, i cant find led 1 and 2, maybe they ar underneath my vga

Reply to DA5ID

Hang on a second.......

Reply to jitpublisher

Did you unplug your ipod?

Reply to Proximon

yeah i unplugged the pod

Reply to DA5ID

Just above your SATA drive connections on the board there should be a jumper labeled JCMOS1. Locate it, unplug the power from your computer.
Remove the jumper from pins 2/1, place it on pins 3/2,, wait 10 seconds, then place the jumper back onto pin 2/1. Plug power back in and try to restart.

Reply to jitpublisher

nothing happened
how do you reset the bios??

Reply to DA5ID

That did reset the BIOS.
Make sure all of your hardware is seated, kind of wiggle and push down gently on the memory chips, and the video card, check all your internal wiring connections make sure they are tight.
If that doesn't do it, we are running out of "easy" options here.....do you have another monitor you can plug in, just to be sure that is not the problem?

Reply to jitpublisher

I could try with my tv, hold on..

Reply to DA5ID

doesnt do jack sht

Reply to DA5ID

Are the lights coming on still, everything seems to working, just nothing on the monitor??? Sorry this is frustrating, but I am trying everything I would do. Also try removing all but 1 stick of memory.

Reply to jitpublisher

I cant stand it, first, i had to rma the first monitor, cause it stopped working after 2 days, then, the cpu fan stopped working so i had to get a zalman, and yesterday after buying my second monitor, it seemed fine, but then i got the unidentified network, with local acces only bug, so i was cut off from the internet, and now, the damn thing wont even start, I am a miserable fool. Should I just spend hundreds more and take it to a specialist? Any more ideas?

Reply to DA5ID

everything seems fine, the fans are running, lights are on, hardrive seems to be spinning just nothing on the screen, and the keyboard and mouse dont work

Reply to DA5ID

and there is a green light on the vga card which seems to indicate that it is working properly. I just dont understand anything, btw, what does the led3 light mean?

Reply to DA5ID

If you are reffering to the Post Codes, (I can't tell the picture I am looking at in the manual has no LED designation on it) I am trying to trace that post code down now, is it still displaying 06? (0b would look like 0B, the letters would be in caps.)

Reply to jitpublisher

This may be a really stupid suggestion, but I do not got any video signal from my 9800gx2 unless my monitor is plugged into the bottom DVI port. Did you try that?

Reply to helios2052

yeah still on 06 and it is on the bottom dvi port

Reply to DA5ID

The codes are in your manual.

06 would be pretty bad, because the MB is still in its initializing phase. Not much you can do there

0B it's trying to detect PS2 mouse

0C it's trying to detect keyboard.

So if its 0B or 0C i would remove keyboard and mouse and see what happens.

For 06 not sure you can do anything besides RMA the board.

Reply to lafontma

the mouse and keyboard werent in most of the times i tryed

What is your power supply. It might of been on the edge of being enough, and the Ipod was just enough to finish it off.

Get the power supply tested! Just because fans and lights come on dont mean it aint dead.

I hate to say it, but if nothing works, it sounds to me like you have a motherboard issue. Is this a prebuild, or a homebuild?
Here is what the code means:
Do R/W test to CH-2 count reg. Initialize CH-0 as system timer. Install the
POSTINT1Ch handler. Enable IRQ-0 in PIC for system timer interrupt.
Traps INT1Ch vector to "POSTINT1ChHandlerBlock."

Maybe someone out there can tell us exactly what this means?
Sounds to me like a hardware issue within the board itself and the system timer.

This is just my 2 cents here, but over the years I have had to RMA 3 different Biostar boards because they simply would not POST.
Biostar has been on my "do not ever buy another one for any reason" list for about 4 years now.

Reply to jitpublisher

I just bought the board cause it had good reviews and I did'nt know what to buy

Reply to DA5ID

I cant rma it, because I bought it in america, and now Im in france

Reply to DA5ID

I have to buy another motherboard and keep the old one, this sucks

Reply to DA5ID

What is the model of your power supply. and watttage and 12v amps?

Reply to roadrunner197069

Can you test your PSU? Like roadrunner said, maybe plugging the IPOD in damaged it somehow...... it should not have, but stranger things have happened.

Reply to jitpublisher

He has a quad and a big GPU. I bet his PSU wasnt enough and the Ipod was just enough to make it quit.

I've seen many PSU's that just blow a 5v rail and al lights and fans still come on.

Yup you got that right. 06 is the sytem timer. It's trying to initialyse the system timer which then manages interrupts from hardware.

Still think there is not much you can do. Not a power issue because at that point nothing is initialized so almost no power draw.

Wll if theres no power to do the intializing then it wont initialize.

I all for the mobo being a piece of crap, but it is smartest to start with the PSU.

Its not to fun to buy a new motherboard plug it in and find out the PSU is bad.

Motherboards generally font die from addind a component via USB, however; power supplies can and do.

Reply to roadrunner197069

its an antec 650w psu, 12v

Reply to DA5ID

oh god someone has got to know how to deal with this, please help me

Reply to DA5ID

Take the PSU to a shop and get it tested. It wont cost more then $20.

Your 12v rail needs atleast 36 amps. Your PSU is borderline cutting it on voltage and if the amps on the +12v arent enough, it blew.

Get it tested and hope it didnt take anything else out.

If it turns out to be fine then you will need a new motherboard.

I'm betting on power supply is toast.

Reply to roadrunner197069

Do you have another PSU you can try? Either that, or take it to the shop and have them test it. If it tests good, looks like a new motherboard may be the only solution.
Also, did you ever try it with only 1 stick of memory?

Sorry RR, you beat me to post :)
