Hard drives spin down often in Win7 (despite changing "Power Option") Tags: Hard Drives Computer Power Storage Last response: April 15, 2010 3:41 AM in Storage Share charlie_b123 April 15, 2010 2:05:31 AM The hard drives in my newly-built computer are spinning down very frequently (often they have to spin up for every song in a playlist.) I have changed the spin down time settings under "Power Options", but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Any ideas? Here are my computer specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 2x WD hard drives (1tb and 640gb.) 80gb Intel SSD for system (obviously no problems here) Intel i7-930 Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard Thanks! This has nothing to do with Windows, it's built into the firmware of the drive itself. Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Publish Related resources: ForumHard drive does not spin up at boot (bad psu?)
