BAD? No, but it might be hard to do, and require some extra tweaking.

i visited some forums about going 8GB on nforce 790i mobos and they said when using OCZ NVIDIA SLI edition memory they are having some problems like no POST and system freezes.

Well, Nvidia chipsets have problems. I would never buy "SLI edition" RAM. That's just criminal marketing. RAM is just RAM, and has nothing to do with your ability to run video cards in SLI.

The thing is when you buy a memory kit with a specific speed/timing/voltage, it's for that kit alone, if you use 2 or more kits, you might have to play with the settings to have them stable.

so its better to have an intel based chipset and using XMP enabled memory like Corsair Dominator.

If you really want to be safe just get a good 8GB kit:

That's some good stuff there, lotsa overclocking room, low voltage.

That mem won't work if he has a 790i chipset since the 790 is a ddr3 chipset. 780i was ddr2.

Doh. I actually don't know how that chipset handles it's DDR3. It possible it's not an issue at all.
