Hey guys i just received my parts for my gaming computer and i ordered a single EVGA 9800 gt graphics card so i have that card right now. and im tempted to buy a second one and run dual cards in SLI. but i dnt know whether its best to buy a 9800GTX+ instead. so im stuck between getting dual 9800GT cards or a single 9800 GTX+ card?

i have a 580 watt power supply
SLI Mobo
4gb memory
quad core CPU
22" LCD

Please help i got into gaming a couple weeks ago and was running games on a dell laptop with 256mb ati card HAHA! i want to play crysis, call of duty 4, etc. thank you guys

Dual 9800 GTs will FLATTEN a single 9800 GTX. No contest.

Dual 9800gt's are actually pretty good. They're much better than a single 9800gtx+. If you want a single card, get a gtx260 core 216.

I agree. The 9800GTX+ is kind of like having an OverClocked 9800GTX (or 8800 GTS 512MB). Granted it's not quite as simple as an Overclock, but they are close.

Two 9800GT's should outperform an 9800GTX+ pretty easily. I'd go that route.

2 x WD Caviar Black 1TB / Thermaltake Armor BWS8003

The 9800 GT SLI only beats the 9800 GTX+ by 220 3D marks but the 9800 GTX+ is about $50.00 cheaper.

2 9800gt will beat the 9800gtx+ easily.
if i were you i would just buy a gtx260 for 200$.

As from my knowledge..... 9800GTX+ and 9800GTX are 55nm and 65nm respectively. The die size differs...... Technologically 900GTX+ is COOL. Also less power consuming...... All GTX200 series cards are 55nm......

So get 9800GTX+
Note:
1)No 200 series could beat 9800GTX+ in SLi
2)9800GTX+ is less power consuming than 9800GT & 9800GTX+
3)Upcoming GTX295 utilises technology of 9800GTX+

+1 to meodowla's information

If you get 1 9800 GTX+ now, you can get another in 6 months to a year and then have a better SLI than you would if you lock yourself into a 2x9800 GT system. (And, since you are debating 2 9800 GT or 1 9800 GTX, the price seemingly isn't the issue for you.)

Jerreece .

I see your pc specs and i have the same motherboard and i thinking to upgrade to vista 64 and get two 9800gt , also get 4gigs of sli ram by ocz . but my question is this can you run flight simulator X and if yes can you run it in max setting ?

in one of my systems i have:

intel quad core q8800 @ 2.3ghz
asus p5q pro motherboard
2 x 4570 (512mb) gigabyte
2g ram kingston

Runs flight sim pretty darn good in dx 10. i had to turn down auto gen and anti aliasing to boost my FPS because i don't want to notice any lag when playing FSX. and by max settings you must mean manually setting it to max and not FSX own "ultra settings" because those settings don't even move some of the sliders half way. so.. not 100 percent maxed out but pretty close :)

Two 9800GT in SLi ~ 9800GX2 ~ GTX280

So 2x 9800GT > 1 9800GTX

the 9800GT and 9800GTX are both 65nm.
The 9800GTX+ are overclocked GTXs, and are "usually" 55nm but not always.

The 9800GTX and 9800GT are both made with G92 technology.
The GTX295 is made with GTX200 technology since it's basically two GTX260s.
