The 9600GSO with 96 stream processors and 384mb ddr3 can outperform the 9600GT when overclocked. However, you don't have this listed as a choice. From the cards you listed, I'd go with # 4. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814127333
I was going to find some benchmarks between the 9600GSO and the 9600 GT for you, but hardly anybody even benchmarks the 9600GSO (at least legit sites that I frequent).
At stock settings, I can't see how a 9600GSO can best the 9600GT.
Like Shadow said though. That 9600GSO could have been adjusted. The benchmark link you provided, even says at the bottom that folks can "Softmod" a 9600GSO into an 8800GTS. So these guys could very well have hacked their model.
Regardless, that benchmark is provided through a Blogspot account. Which is like reading benchmarks off someone's MySpace or Facebook page.
^Exactly. I would post the link to the xtream cpus forums but THF censors the link. Those of you have been here for the last 3+ years will know why and who runs xtream cpus. Most of the old folks that used to be here at THF went there.
The 8800GSO/9600GSO has a small advantage at lower resolutions and without AA; overclocked it is larger. Add AA and the 192-bit memory bus cripples it, while the 9600GT takes less of a hit.
Softmodding a 9600GSO to an 8800GTS can only be done on a 9600GSO with 8 memory chips instead of 6.
