Which is Better?

Which one of these will be faster?

A single HD4870x2 or 2 HD4870 1gbs in crossfire (i game at 1650 x 1050 )

It really depends on the game. In left 4 dead, the 4870 X2 performs worse than 2 4870s in Crossfire.

Thats more of a matter of what game you'd like to play. I would do some googling

In theory, they should both perform the same.

hmm, less latency with the X2, but less heat with the two 4870's = better ocing = more performance.

If you have a P45 motherboard, the HD 4870 X2 will win because the other combination will run at 8x+8x and suffer from bottlenecks. On an X48 motherboard the results are very close.

LOL , Id go HD 4800 X2 just beacuse in the long run its cheaper you only use one slot, etc etc, but if you have a x38 or x48, or x58 and even a 790FX its worth to get 2 HD 4800 instead of the X2.

Not sure I understand the question. A single HD 4870 X2 would occupy a single slot, and P45 motherboards do not drop to 8x8x when a single slot is occupied. That HD 4870 X2 would have the full 16x bandwidth available to it.
