I just recently bought a EVGA 9800GTX+. I have a EVGA 790i FTW MB. With a 1,000 Watt PSU. Also my primary card is a XFX 9800GTX. Let me remind everyone on here that both cards are identical in speed on the Core, shaders, and memory. The difference is nothing, just that the EVGA one has the "+" besides that from my view they look exactly the same. My XFX was deactivated on newegg when the whole new "+" thing came out. Anyways, i put the EVGA one in the 3rd slot considering my Sli bridge reaches that one for a two way SLI on the MB, and the second slot is occupied by my sound blaster X-FI card. When i booted up my 2nd card reads as a 8800GT. Its seated properly and secured in the slot, has power in it, and the green light on. What can be wrong, did i set it up wrong or maybe the card is bad? Any suggestions would be great. Greatly appreciate an answer guys. :D

Also in GPU-Z the only difference i can tell from my XFX 9800GTX is that on the EVGA one although it shows up as a 8800GT(9800GTX+) the memory and shader's are a bit lower then the XFX. Memory wise is only about 40mhz, shader's are only about 14mhz lower. Should i switch cards? I have the latest drivers from Nvidia and that still didn't work.

You have two SLI connectors on each card. Try switching the SLI bridge to the other SLI connectors on the cards and it should work. Let us know how it goes.

edit: BTW, the "+" isn't just something evga tacked on. The 9800GTX+ is a 55nm card vs the original 9800GTX that is a 65nm card.

In the process of maxing out my gaming rig from 2007 for kicks cause top of the line parts of the era are hilariously cheap. Had this problem trying to SLI my 9800gtx+/9800gtx and this solved it. Thank you internet stranger from 6 years ago!
