Hi

Fool me

I have just ordered this PSU:

http://www.ocztechnology.com/produ [...] supply-eol

and then realized that it might not work with hd4870x2 !

There is no 8 pin connector.

I have red about 6 to 8 pins adapters. Are those safe?

And IF it is ok does other parameters of this PSU are satisfactory?

Could i still use this PSU with gfx or should buy another one ?

Thanks in Adbvance for Response

Cheers

Some manufacturers ship the adapter with the card, So I would say it's probably OK.

I dont know about the 4870x2 but on the 3870X2 you can use two six pins or one six/one 8pin for oc card

I'd probably send it back and use the $ to buy a Corsair 650tx at the minimum. It has 2 x 6+2pin (8 pin) PCI-e power connectors and I'm pretty sure it's buttloads cheaper!! You could even go up to the Corsair 750tx and still have $ left over. The 1000w OCZ PSU is $160 after $40 MIR, so the Corsair 650tx for $80 or 750tx for $100 or less is going to save you a bunch of $. The Corsair 750tx has 4 x 6+2pin PCI-e power connectors, so even that will easily power up your 4870x2!!
Corsair 650tx has 52A on the 12v rail and the Corsair 750tx has 60A on the 12v rail, so pleny of power. Your selection has no more than 70A combined on all 4 12v rails, but is limited to 20A on each particular rail. The Corsair PSU's only have 1 single 12v rail and you won't be limited to 20A for any particular power connector, not that it is that big of a deal.

8800gtx w/e6600 OC'd will run on Antec 380w w/27A on 12v rail, PSU!!

Yeah those adapters a generally safe. You should be fine using one 4870X2 and an adapter for the 8 pin connector. If your intention was to run two of them though then I guess it's going to get a little more complicated just to hook them up :D.

using the adapters in the box is safe. the video card manufacturers wouldn't supply them with their cards if there was a risk. otherwise they would have a ton of rma cases.
