Had to RMA a motherboard for my dads computer. Vista (home premium) is installed on the harddrive. Should I erase the hardrive before re-installing Vista or just re-install over everything. Data loss isn't a problem I've already backed up everything I need to a USB drive. I'm just looking for the proper way to go about re-installling Vista after replacing the mobo. If I should erase the hard-drive could someone give me a few pointers on the proper way to go about doing that. Thanks!

Have you tried to boot it up as is?

It might just ask you to reactivate it. Why do all that extra work without trying this first?

If not, usually when you install, it will ask if you want to format before you install. It doesn't take long, so I would do that.

I havent tried to boot up yet I was reading through a few posts and people had said it was better to re-install the operating system after you re-placed a mobo whether it is the same board or not. I guess i should just re-format and take it from there
