Blu Ray Read Speeds
Apr 17, 2010, 4:16 PM
Wasn't sure which category to ask this question in but here it is anyway:
I want to buy an internal Blu Ray player and some have read speeds of x4 and some have x8. Would a x4 player provide inferior playback compared to a x8? What would be the benefit of a x8 player?

The speed won't make any difference when watching movies because you always watch a movie at the same speed.
The faster drive will be able to copy data files off the disc more quickly, assuming you ever use it for that purpose.

It should not matter for normal use or movie playing. I have a BD burner so the speed is important. It saves time.
