i have a am2 ECS 7050mv2.0 mobo and im having problems with the fan running at full speed all the time, i would like to know what setting i should use in smart fan control as the noise of a fan running at 3670 rpm is like a jet engine! cool and quiet is enabled and so is smart fan control.
When you power on, check the post screen to press an "f" key or "del" to enter the bios. Move the curser to highlight the "pc health status" section, and press enter. When the first section (smart fan function) is highlighted, press enter. Set the "smart fan control" to "enable". Set the smart fan "pwm" value to the lowest setting. Set the smart fan temp setting at 40c. Set "deltaT" to the lowest setting. Set the "smart fan slope pwm value" to the lowest setting. Press f10 "save and exit" and the system will reboot. Your fan speed should stay very low most of the time. Your cpu should run cool with the low fan setting if you have any case fans and don't overclock.
If your board bios has those settings, try the settings I gave you. Those settings won't effect anything else but the fan speed. Otherwise, if the board has a 4 pin header, get another heatsink with 4 pins or a zalman "fan mate II" rpm adjuster. They sell for about $7 at frys. Other venders have them. Some of the more expensive zalman fans come with built in rpm adjustment. But try those settings first. If they don't work, no harm done.
