These are the parts I plan to use for my next build. If you feel any of my part choices are bad, that I need another part to make this computer work, that I could get a better deal on parts elseware, or that any of the parts are not compatible with another, please respond.

It's a fine build. The one part I'm sure I would change:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231194
That would be the RAM for serious overclocking.

If you are not overclocking, or not alot, then you don't need the 1066.

I'm not convinced the Cosmos is a good choice for twin 4850s, because the dump the heat back into the case. The better airflow of the Antec 1200 would make me feel safer, if it was my build.

I would highly suggest 64-bit Vista so that you can use all 4GB of RAM.

DDR2 800 RAM will still allow you to OC the Q9550 to 3.4GHz. This RAM is awesome. It has tight timings and low voltage.

G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231209 $64.99

I would also consider a 640GB HD. The extra density makes the drives considerably faster for not much more $.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218 $74.99

You should also get a SATA DVD burner instead of IDE. There is no reason to put a big IDE cable in a new build. I recently got this drive and really like it:

SAMSUNG Black 22X DVD+R 22X DVD-R 16X DVD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151173 $27.99

I would just stick with a quality P45 chipset motherboard instead of X38.

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128358 $136.99 -$20.00 MIR

or

ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131299 $119.99 -$15.00 MIR

I will definitely change my disc drive. As for the hard drive, do you really think the 640gb caviar is faster than a 500gb samsung spinpoint? I always thought the spinpoint was fairly fast, but maybe my knowledge is outdated. I do not want a P45 motherboard because it will not allow for x16 bandwidth for two graphics cards in crossfire. Thanks for the replies, keep the advice coming! :wahoo:

Is the X38 motherboard I listed earlier in the thread considered good for overclocking, will it fit my cpu cooler? Thanks.

Is the DFI LANPARTY
DK X38-T2RB ATX Intel Motherboard a good motherboard? If not, are their any other motherboards that allow two ati graphics cards in crossfire with x16 bandwidth?
