Have had mine for five years now, wonderful operating laptop. Now it just shutdown with no action by me. Turned completly off! When I hit the power button, I get a small blue light flashing "lightning bolt" below the touchpad, but the unit does not come on. Power cord and unit appear normal, no excess heat anywhere. It just won't turn on!

Unplug the battery, try to turn on then. If does not work, try a different power supply. If that does not work you will need to check your hardware, motherboard or possibly just the power connections. For a 5 yr old laptop, new laptop may be worth getting over repairing the old one.
