Well I made this thread thanks to ZeCow, I thought it was a good idea.

What you should do is post your favourite build, doesn't matter how much at all. Just favourite component parts.

Its sharing. =)

lol.... what should I do is to post my fav. build? dude, what did I just say? What eskimogenius meant was:

If we can help recommend him parts with a budget of $1500 USD (2200 AUD). Rig will be used for gaming.

Ok eskimogenius.. here's mine:

CPU Q9450 <- can OC to 9550
Board Asus Rampage <- I own this board and I love it
RAM GSkills or Black Dragon <- Good ram and have the least issue with compatibility
PSU Corsair 620 <- solid performer
GPU ATI 4870 1GB <- what can I say? I love AMD :D nahh.. I think its the best bang for the buck.

Actually I just listed my wife's rig.. :p

Hey ! If you're on a budget then..

CPU : Q9550
ALthough I own a E6850
(was going to upgrade to a Q9550 or Q9650 but everyones telling me I dont need to)

Board : Asus P5Q Green (It's same as all the higher end P5Qs just not crossfire) And it's 100-120 bucks CHEAP

Ram : Patriot Extreme CL4 (LLK) Considering that it's true 800mhz not the oc'd 667mhz (CL5) like others, Best bang for the buck 4gb 2x2gb = 70 bucks max w/shipping,tax if you oc it to CL5 it's over 1ghz

PSU : I agree Corsair or PC Power&Cooling, Cant go wrong ( I personally bought a P&C Silencer, instead of the Corsair 750tx) it was cheaper and pumps more amp

GPU : Agree'd ATI HD4xxx series are the best bang for buck you can get this year, I have a spare HD4870 (512mb) and Currently have a 4870x2 (2gb) installed i got mine for 453 shipped

Case : Antec P182 Love the huge space inside and love how quiet it really is, with impressive cooling

Well I've tried about every part name brands out there, I upgrade 2-3 times a year and like to try other brands to compare . So far I'm happy with mine.

Now for the GPU part your friend quoted 1gb 4870. But that might be an over-kill depending on what size monitor you have and resolution you play on, Mainly because the 1gb and 512mb perform exactly the same on fps till you go over 1680xetc then you notice a few higher fps on the 1gb.

OH beware, you will need a new GPU cooler.. 4870 runs extremely hot and LOUD.. Prepare for global warming
I put on a accelro S1 I think on mine. And without the fan it stayed cool in my pc. Idled at 43 and full load was never past 57 (OC 780/1050) I didnt put the fan on, cause it stayed cooled and again <3 Silent

hope that helps alittle

Alright thanks for your help guys, so I took your advice and done a lot of research, but at the moment I have a few questions to ask:

Which ram is better? This one:
http://www.itsdirect.com.au/com_products.php?view=detail&Product_ID=2026&category_id=35&sub_category=15
or the one jstnkim suggested (Patriot Extreme CL4 (LLK))? And seeing that 4gb is kinda alright these days, should I go for 8gb?

I really need help thinking of a good case. It should have e-sata on it and no lights. See through side doesnt matter.

Now for the motherboard is probably the biggest problem of all. Most people say this motherboard is good:
http://www.stonebridgecomputing.com.au/catalog/-p-17774.html
But I thought the x38 chipset was faster than the P45 as I've read somewhere?

Right, just edited and now I have done lots of research and put together this build:
GPU: HIS Hightech HD4870 512MB GDDR5, 750/3600MHz, Full HD 1080p, Dual DL-DVI & TV (HDCP). - HIS-HD4870-E5-V2

RAM: OCZ 4GB (2x 2GB) DDR2 800 Reaper Edition (PC6400) Ram Module Kit (change voltage in bios for this)

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz

Case: Love the one that jstnkim suggested but doesnt have esata, help me choose a better one than this? Thermaltake Swing RS 100

PSU: Corsair HX620W 620W ATX Power Supply, 120mm fan, Dual PCIE VGA Connector
http://www.i-tech.com.au/products/611_Corsair_HX620W_620W_ATX_Power_Supply.aspx

HDD: Samsung/Maxtor(by Seagate) 1TB *Special* Harddisk,SATA2,32MB 7200RPM,NEW! 'HD103UJ' (limited stock)

Card reader: Silverstone FP34B Black 3.5" Card Bay and Front
http://www.stonebridgecomputing.com.au/catalog/-p-5129.html?sCsid=3d66905c5e6ea8d42585de4beb349bc8

All parts come to $AU1826, give or take up to $50 because prices change almost everday. Total shipping costs come to $100.

Some notes, yes I will be using the GPU for the HD stuff. Yes I will get a full HD monitor. and probably taking up maximum of 400gb in 1 year.

PS. Any suggestions on new parts coming out?
PPS. Please tell me your thoughts for the mobo, RAM (should I get 8gb), and GPU.
PPPS. Need some help on a better looking case that has e-sata

Case design is a matter of personal opinion, but this case looks pretty good to me and has e-sata. It does have a blue led fan in the front, but if you're that worried about it just replace the fan. I'm providing the newegg link just so you can check out the pictures. I'll let you find it locally on your own if it looks good to you.
