ADSL runs through the telephone line. Cable runs throgh a coaxal (I believe thats the spelling) that is the same line that hooks up to the TV. If your getting 100+Mbits then I want some of what you have there buddy!

The decision between DSL and Cable really depends on the local service. Read up reviews for hte prociders in your area and ask around for people who have broadband. In my area, I first got DSL, but it didn't work and the support just simply sucked, so i switched to cable and I'm never going back. If you have Optimum Online in your area, I suggest you get it.

Oh yes, and 100 Mbits per second is insane, you could probably get that if you find a way around the limits set by the ISP. I get 4 MB/s with Optimum in my area, but a friend of mine a few towns over can get up to 10 b/c a lot less people use it. So again, it doesn't really matter if it is DSL or Cable, (DSL can reach those 4-10 MB/s as well) it just depends on the local Internet Service Provider. www.DSLREports.org (it might be com, but I think org) is a great place to check up on that

I think that you are mixing two types of cables. There is the dsl cable, which is a regular telephone line for which I never saw speeds of more than 10Mbps. Than there is the cable cable which is coaxial cable, I don't know the speed of that. And the there is the network cable or RJ-45. It looks a bit like a regular telephone cable but its bigger and that can go to 100Mbps.
