Those two differently colored SATA ports on your motherboard work with Drive Xpert. It's an easy way to configure RAID 0 or RAID 1 using the hardware of the motherboard. If you are not installing a RAID you don't need to insatall it, or activate it in BIOS.
Proxi is right Drive Xpert by asus is a very easy to do raid set up for 2 drives in raid 0 or 1 but these cannot be system drives just need to set up the sata drives into the 2 different colored sata ports on the mobo i think white and orange is still used.
You got a link where I can read more about this?
Motherboard manual? Outside of that you can look for descriptions at ASUS.
I almost fell off my chair the first time I saw that, enjoy.
sorry for the thread revival if im not looking to use it for RAID and just normal drives, can I use these still? or is it only for RAID and cannot be used as normal SATA ports? i.e. I cannot connect a SATA DVD-RW to it?
My understanding is that yes, you can. I have not tried it myself.
What needs to be done to make these (the orange and white ones) available as normal SATA ports? I can't even get the BIOS to see a disk plugged in to the orange SATA plug.
JakeN, start a new thread and let us know what motherboard your talking about.
