Noob Question - Would this be a good gaming card?

Kari

Splendid
it's a good budget card, not top performer but good for the money.
Just don't expect to run those games all maxed up with high AA levels at very high resolutions...

I put this in a system for someone and its about equivalent to a 9600Gt or 9600GSO. It ran COD4 Max setting but No AA at 1680x1050 flawlessly. Its a good lower end gamer card. But for the money you can't beat it.

Don't expect it to run FarCry2 or the newer games coming out above medium settings.

I have read a couple of articles that goes in the same direction, it's a good budget gaming card. If you can spare some more money the 4830 is also a pretty good choice but not in the same price range.

Haha, you would see a ridiculous improvement. Night and Day!

Basically the equivalent of a race between a Nissan 350Z and a Nissan forklift.

The 8400gt is for basic desktop and application graphics. It was never intended for games. THe 4670 was intended as an entry level gamer card. You will be happy.

what????

You wont see night and day, but it will improve your performance. I dont think it worth the money to shift from 9400gt to 4670.

What?

9400GT is quite slow - it is WELL worth the money to get a 4670 from it. The 9400GT only has 16 stream processors, and is an absolutely miserable gaming card. It will basically be night and day.

Get a 4670 if power is a problem. It's still faster than the 9500 by quite a bit, but doesn't take any extra power connectors - it can get all its power from just the PCI-E slot.
